Biography
✓ Background was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. He emigrated to the United States with his family when he was six. The proverbial immigrant story, his father arrived a year earlier with $79 in his pocket and the name and address of a relative. Carlos grew up in shadows of the Los Angeles skyscrapers. Carlos emerged from the shadows of the Los Angeles skyscrapers, a resilient figure navigating his surroundings with grace. As a studious individual, he steered clear of trouble, mastering the art of swift escapes from rowdy gang members. Little did he know, this skill would later transform into a valuable asset as he sprinted onto the track, showcasing his speed and determination during his high school track career.
✓ Education He graduated from high school and ventured into Pepperdine University, a prestigious Christian institution known for its affluent student body, including wealthy kids and celebrities—a stark cultural shift for a kid from the barrio. Despite facing numerous challenges in assimilating, he persevered and earned a bachelor’s degree in business. To support himself financially, he worked on-campus as a security guard, a role that not only helped cover his tuition but also provided valuable insurance benefits, making his academic journey possible.

Personal Interests
Meet Carlos, not just a seasoned professional but a devoted family man. He and his wife, Diane have shared 38 years of marital bliss, raising two wonderful adult children together. Beyond the business environment, Carlos transforms into an avid endurance cyclist, conquering crazy distances of 50, 60, 100, and even 200 miles with his riding buddies from the local cycling club. When not immersed in the world of process improvement or metaphorically slaying dragons, Carlos can be found jamming on the drums with his 70’s & 80’s rock band.
His passion for travel takes him to captivating destinations, especially Costa Rica and Italy. There, he embarks on cycling adventures, navigating through the toucan-studded and capuchin monkey rainforests, as well as mountain-top medieval towns and villages in the province of Veneto, just north of Venice. Carlos’s zest for life shines through his participation in national and international events, including the Gran Fondo in Costa Rica. For him, it’s not solely about reaching a destination; it’s about embracing the journey. Whether spinning wheels in distant landscapes or exploring new horizons, Carlos thrives on the freedom of the open road, and the wind in his hair.
